I'm back from India.
Only for the weekend though.
Will be in Manila next week. Hopefully my training schedule would not be too messed up.
The weekend was a bit flat after the big one last weekend. C was sick with flu, so she just wanted to be in bed resting. I still managed to drag her out to visit bike shops with me, and we managed to see 2. The first one was one she spotted -
The Bike Boutique. There, I was introduced to the wonderful world of
Cervélo Bikes! There they introduced us to the wonderful world of seat post angles, and Choonwei convinced me that I should be getting a road bike (the soloist) for my first attempt at the triathalon.
The second bike shop, one that I had wanted to go to for a while already - is one that is the nearest to my place. Its called
passi:one: bicycles. There I managed to meet the very friendly owner, Daniel Loy. I asked him all about seat post angles and he told me that it is a bit of marketing fluff..;)
The weekend was not just about bikes though. C & I discovered this nice new cheese shop that's opened up along Mohamed Sultan known as La Fromagerie. It is a very friendly shop. There we met I believe the owner, and i think his wife. They have a setup where they would just allow you to taste almost any cheese that they have in the shop! We probably tasted like 10 different types of cheese. Most of the cheese was from different regions of France, but there was one Spanish one if I do not remember wrongly. What a good strategy they have as I ended up purchasing 2 types of cheese from them (St. Nectaire and Rasin & Walnut blue cheese). The Rasin & Walnut blue cheese is now my favourite! Very very nice. C's favourite was the Gorgonzola Mascarpone. Some of the others we tried but didn't buy were the Selles sur Cher (Goat's milk), Bleu de Gex, Fourme d'Ambert.
After all the cheese, and a great big lunch at my in-laws, I some how had to squeeze in a run. So while C was snoozing in the early evening, I got all my gear out from my yet unpacked India luggage and ran!
The objective was to make the run > 1 hour. Not sure if I have journaled this, but i figure now all my training sessions need to be more than 1 hour long in order to get to the fitness level to compete.
The run really felt good. I now know I need about 20 minutes for warming up. After the warm up session, the run just felt like it got easier and easier. Ok, the last bit was downhill, but i do feel faster and fitter now. And right in the middle of it, I managed to do 4 pull-ups!
