As I was finishing writing 'Voices from a Lost Time' and beginning to plot 'A Sword in Agate' I was struck with a bolt of inspiration.
I wanted to bring some more variety into the pivot scenes I used in the stories, one reviewer had explicitly mentioned that though they were great, they were slightly repetitive at times. I had noticed this, though I appreciated the outside confirmation. The issues were interesting mirror images for both 'Unending' and 'Continuum'. 'Unending' had plenty of time for me to use, but not a lot of space. 'Continuum' had lots of space for me to play with, but not enough time. I needed new settings for the pivots. Something I'd already used in 'Under the Silent Stars'.
Which brings me to that metaphorical lightning bolt. Chapter 5 of 'VfaLT' includes a very important, nay... pivotal, pair of stories. When I thought about the implications of them ideas flourished in my head which allowed me to bookend 'A Sword in Agate' in a way that still has me smiling. It was such a fruitful little epiphany that it spawned what would become my set of oneshot side-stories for the series which explore all the AU teams from 'Ripple Effect'.
If you've read chapter 3 of 'TTTW' then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't then I humbly advise against reading the story I will post next until you do.
