Dreadfully stuck in my peculiar ways, I am oddly perturbed by the decision of the Hogs Head to replace their - admittedly less than sanitary - barman. Has anyone else, bored and idle in the summer months, noticed this change of staff? I'd be curious to know what became of him. He had such an unusual smell.

Society is well and good, but barkeeps are hardly society.

I will concede that, for the historian, Society may seem a rather large concept for a small tavern. Still, we mortals must make do with more limited views.

You always were whimsical in your choice of companions. But befriending a barkeep is a peculiar gesture for a man in your position. Or former position, I should say. Is he a Hogwarts graduate? Perhaps a Hufflepuff?

As you say, I am a historian, and thus always interested in society, however you chose to define it.

But I see that there are more urgent matters afoot tonight.
