I thought Dexter might die and being killed by Harrison is not a bad idea. "Open your eyes and look at what you've done!" was a great line, I got chills because it's what Dexter says to his victims. Yes, many innocent people died because of him. But I don't believe Dexter would let Harrison kill him (maybe Harrison should have tied him down Dexter-style. Can you imagine?), and killing Dex would only make Harrison worse, not better, so if Dexter really loved his son and was okay with dying, he should have shot himself. BUT Dexter would never do that. He'd knock Harrison down and escape.
Why bring Batista back if he doesn't do anything? I so waited for his conversation with Dexter. I really liked how they brought up the Bay Harbour Butcher case, how Angela discovered Dexter's identity, and I was hoping for a great dillema for her - would she let the person who got and killed Kurt go? Dexter can be extremely persuasive - he persuaded the entire audience to root for him. For a moment, I wondered if people in town would accept his dark urges if he promised he'd only go for bad people.
So, my idea for a good ending is: Dexter's identity is discovered, but he persuades Angela and people in town that he only killed Kurt because he knew he was guilty and wasn't going for jail. If Angela doesn't buy it, she dies. Dex lies himself out from the Bay Harbour Butcher accusations. Maybe Batista knows, but he can't prove it, not after all those years. After the 30 bodies are discovered, Dexter is seen as a hero, a Batman, a protector. He thinks he can finally be himself and live there, with his son, possibly girlfriend and friends. But then Harrison gets him because he knows what Dexter is - and he only knows because he can't help being exactly like him. Maybe he lost Audrey because of Dexter. Maybe he hopes that if he kills Dex, his demons will stop. He kills him the way Dexter showed him and doesn't get caught - he's a quick learner. We don't know if Harrison kills anyone else in the future.
