Yeah, it kind of does vaguely feel like an obligation, I get what you mean, though at the same time I know it's not one and never want others feel it is either. Kind of heart/reason issue; let's not worry about it too much. And then there's of course also the list(s) no one recommended, but planned for oneself...

In Spanish, I know only "mañana" and "arma". I thought I'd learn the word for money from "Money heist", but no :D
I hear it entices you with an easy surface and then you drown in a puzzling variety of "to be". :')

Isn't it weird that a Pole who doesn't know Russian understands quite a lot of spoken language, but can't read anything in it?
Not necessarily, it's somewhat closely related, after all. Unexpected familiarity once in a while on one hand and tons of false friends on the other. Many people claim reading Russian is the easiest part, since one can get there after an hour, and while it's not untrue, I feel like they kind of miss the point - it only becomes reading (as opposed to deciphering) after it gets transparent, like Latin. And this takes more time. And then there's learning the actual meaning... At least we get a huge headstart with the grammar. Me, I actually get it (whatever little I get) easier in reading than listening, but that's every language to me. Polish including. :P
