Duck Tales - woo hoo!

"Duck tales" were supposed to be something I'll watch purely for David Tennant. And then episode one was released and I already adore it.

Obviously, I kept an eye on the promotion. The panel on San Diego Comic Con wasn't that interesting to me, as everyone except David and one British actress talked about how important the series was for them when they were kids and how the reboot responds to the original version and the comic books, things I know very little about. (I read some comics with Donald and his family as a kid - the only comic books I read in my entire life - but I've no idea who wrote them and if they were in America, too. I liked them though.) It's like seeing Doctor Who fandom from the outside, all that passion and references you don't unserstand :) But then were those interviews with David and the actors who play two of the triplets, interviews that actually lasted more than five minutes (what's with interviews in American tv? It's three minutes, commercial break and another three minutes. Graham Norton Show is much better) and were very funny. Those three must have spent some time with eath other, they're so comfortable with each other and joke a lot. They even synchronized their sitting positions. There are some very nice videos on the Internet and I thought they were the best part of the whole "Duck tales" project.

Then the episode came and it was just... genuinely funny. Not at all annoying as some things targeted to kids can be, but actually funny. ("Oh, you're finally going to sell us.")  I thought I was too old for Donald being attacked by every single object near him, but no. I feel for him though, being a person with a bad luck and three nephews to raise up on his own. If only I could understand more of what he says (I get about 25%)! But actually, it's funny too, as he's angry for most of the time. But the fact that I can develop feelings towards him and other characters proves they are well-written. They have actual personalities, goals and feelings. Each of the triplets is different and I look forward to see more of them. And Scrooge... You only wait for him to say something, and the angrier he is, the better he sounds (sorry, Donald). I've already read few comments on the way he uses his cane (don't look at me this way) and the word "daddy" was spoken, too. I'm not sure how mental health corresponds with the fact that some of us might now be attracted to an animated duck, but hey, with fandom life and Internet? We abandoned sanity years ago.

I'm going to put a comment about the last scene under a spoiler cut, just in case.
[Spoiler (click to open)]I enjoyed the episode so much that the cliffhanger (they have cliffhangers!) worked on me. I never thought I'd be so interested in Donald's sister's story, but that's the beauty of it, I never thought about the nephews' mother or how Scrooge got rich before, now it can be a proper story.

It also doesn't look like those new animations with those 3D backgrounds and everything, it feels old and... well, like comic books. I've seen new Smurfs so I really appreciate it.

One thing: I'd prefer if they kept the version of the opening song sung by the cast (:
