I was reading a book on personality types today. Apparently Jung believed that in the quest to realize your full potential, your personality type would inevitably change. Or something to that affect. I then took the personality test again just for the hell of it, and it turns out my personality type has changed dramatically. I used to test heavily INFP, but now my test is a tie between INTJ and ISTJ. I am tied on S and N. For P and J the J only wins by 1 point. Likewise for T and F. I read the profiles for INTJ/ISTJ and I think I possess a lot of those traits, but I still have all of my old INFP traits as well. I'd been suspecting something must have changed for several years now, because I used to operate almost entirely on an empathetic level, and now I don't always do that. I'm more practical than I used to be, but I still retain a capacity for daydreaming idealism.
It's possible my personality change is temporary, it says many people change for their jobs or relationships. I'm sure that is where I learned to adapt and utilize those aspects of my brain. One of the tendencies described by my new personality type is intense focus and passion for a subject (such as gardening) where they accidentally become expert in that area.
Anyway, it would appear that you can change anything about yourself if you are suitably motivated. It's probably easier for someone who starts on that pursuit with an IN_P trait personality, I don't know that for certain, but I think it is theoretically possible for anyone.
You can be good at anything you want bad enough, and you can learn the patience and methodical skills to get you there. You have to believe in yourself, though. Don't work on projects where you put yourself down before you even get started good. It's self-defeating. Either get a positive attitude or do something else instead.
