I stammered, like an idiot. He thought the silences were awkward. Yeah, this past week and a half? That particular silence? Pretty fucking awkward for me, thanks.
I missed him, and instead of saying so, I bit my tongue. He asked me to be a character reference, even though he seemed doubtful. I told him I would, and I wouldn't be an asshole.
