So here's the whole story.
Chris, this guy we met outside the last Ben Folds show (at the Avalon) emailed me saying "I assume I'll see you at the show tonight". Frankly, I had forgotten about it (bad fan... bad!) but my head hasn't been in the whole show thing lately.
Anyway. I emailed him back and said, no, I wasn't going I hadn't bought a ticket and a 'day of show' tickets on ticketbastard was going to be $50 (way out of my price range, despite there being a single available 7th row center) I added in my email something like "unless you happen to have a spare ticket that you're looking to get rid of, and are in western mass and want to drive with me," since I don't so much fancy driving across the state and back by myself when I know I'm going to be tired. He said that while he couldn't help with the driving, his friend did have a ticket that he was willing to sell for face value. I thought about it, and figured $35 was still slightly out of my price range when you factor in gas, tolls and parking. So I (mostly jokingly) offered him $20... figuring there was no way he would take that little. HE DID! Whoo.
So I call Sarah and say "I'm assuming I'll see you at the show tonight." To which she says "No, I have a ticket, but I didn't want to drive all that way by myself, so I'm not going." Whoot!
So I got my ass down to Springfield to pick her up and we were off. After getting stuck in some *serious* traffic and getting *horribly* lost trying to get to the venue, (I love harborlights... it hates me. It is impossible for me to get there, or home from there without getting lost) we made it and only missed the first 3 songs or so of Ben's set.
Had a blast, got a great concert fix, got to chill out with Sarah on the drive out and back, traded up for Rufus's set when Jenne and Mike gave us their tickets since they were leaving (THANK YOU!) and then traded up even more when we just took some empty seats about 6 rows back on the left aisle with a perfect view. I think that Rufus's set might have impressed some of you doubters. He actually rocked out a few times... wish he had done that on the last Ben tour (with Guster) he could have won some fans instead of alienating them.
It was so great to see Bob and Jeff, and Jenne and Mike (please excuse my lack of ability to insert those nifty LJ user links.) The show was great! I'm so glad I went!
Yay!
