So, another show has come and gone, and for the first time since February, I'm looking at being able to go straight home after work every evening. No rehearsals! It'll be nice, because I need a break, but I know I'm going to miss it. But I'm hearing rumors that the DCT is doing Scrooge in December, and as that's a show near and dear to my heart, I'll probably audition for that. Still, I've got at least a month to recuperate, which is good.
We had a really fantastic final show on Saturday. Kate (one of the other maids, and a completely cool person) made matching T-shirts for all of the maids. They say "Maid Service" on them. Too cute. And I actually went out to Hugo's with the cast after the show--first time I'd done that. (I was always too tired on days when I'd come straight from work to Longwood, and I didn't want to go out last Saturday because that was the night Jon and his mom were at the show.) I had a lot of fun. I feel bad that I'm not going to the cast party--it's Saturday night, and since Jon and I are leaving for Maine early in the morning the next day, I didn't think it was a good idea to make plans for that night. Besides, Jon's mom is coming over that night (she's pigsitting for us and we have to walk her through the oh-so-complicated feeding of the veggies and the hay). It's a shame, though, because it sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.
Anyway, I have LOTS and LOTS of rehearsal pictures under the cut, if anyone's interested. Enjoy!
Longwood Rehearsals
(The lighting is really awful on some of these, because the flash on my camera isn't all that powerful in the dark.)
That stage is HUGE!!
The cast (the guy in the bright green shirt is our director, Bill Peuchen)
Mrs. Higgins and Pickering at the ball. The best thing about this picture, I think, is the "Poppin' Fresh" T-shirt. That cracks me up every time.
Higgins and Karpathy
Eliza's entrance
The Three Musketeers: Pickering, Eliza and Higgins
"On the Street Where You Live"--Freddy
"Show Me"--Eliza and Freddy
"Show Me"
Our costumes were AWESOME. Hot, but AWESOME.
My cubby! (Yes, I'm a dork and take pictures of everything.)
Backstage: The Servants Chorus

From left: Susan, Sam, Dick
Me and Lesley
Higgins' maids
The butlers
The apron-tying assembly line
Lesley, Christine, me, and Kate at Hugo's in our kick-ass "Maid Service" shirts. (Good lord, I am WHITE.)
Other Cast Members
Susan and Matt (Freddy Eynsford-Hill)
Ken Jones and Melody. I met Melody at dance auditions. She got to be a dancer; I didn't. That's because she has things like "grace" and "coordination," while I dance like an elephant on acid.
People being silly
Avril, aka the Queen of Transylvania
Yours truly, complete with costume and 80 pounds of makeup
"Winter" cockney. Yay for pretending to be cold when it's 100 degrees out. That's ACTING, baby! :-p
"Spring" cockney
Lookin' hot (uh, literally) as a maid
"Poor Professor Higgins..."
You can't see them, but there are about 487 bobby pins attaching that idiotic hat to my head.
Me and Odelia in all our Ascot-y grandeur.

The slightly less gushing, but still positive, News Journal review
All told, it was a fun experience. I think I enjoyed Children of Eden more, but I had fun with the Brandywiners. If I find a job closer to home before next year (and, honestly, if I haven't found a new job in a year, someone please shoot me), I'll probably audition for Anything Goes. It's a fun group of people and we really put on a great show.
