Dementia thy name is

Okay I've been meaning to post about this all day.  It's tough picking just one example.  From the multitudes today.

Mom: "What do you want to do with that diploma?"
Me: "I'm going to take it out of the frame and take it home."
Mom looks at the frame. "What are you going to do about that diploma?"
Me: "I'm going to take it home."
Mom puts something else down looks back at the frame: "What are you planning to do with that diploma?"
Me: "i'M TAKING IT."
Mom: "Don't yell at me!  I'm just asking!"

Yes, I can sit right across from my mother, have eye contact, explain things as clearly as I can, and if it is not the answer she wants - she doesn't hear it.  or remember it a half second later.
So in the future when they come to me and say "How could you not know your mother has dementia??"  I'm going to be all...
"SHE'S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR 50 YEARS.  SHE'S PERFECTLY FINE."

mood, folks
