This is not that movie. Being silent will not save you. This is RL. Touch some grass. ;)
The Story: lj front page had
Mallorys_Camera post speculating that Gen Z will sit this election out. Because Politics are too messy and votes don't matter, etc. (My words.)
[Edited to add user name

Thank you for inspiring me to write this one and forgive me if you disagree.]
But basically I replied:
Be very suspicious of the source of the voices whispering "democracy doesn't work", "your vote doesn't matter", "Shh, just shhhh."
Oh hell no. Grab your power with both hands.
Politics are messy. Just do your best.
To elaborate on my thoughts:
I'm not Gen Z (obv).
I've heard those same whispers a long, LONG time. Especially directed at the younger voters. Get them while they are young! And busy. Just discovering how screwed they are.
Get them while they could be making policies that would directly help them, and help them for more of their lives.
"Shh. Shh now. Sit this one out."
"If you don't play you can't lose." (Wtf?)
It is a damn sight cheaper to /silence/ a vote than to buy one. Plus you never have to answer to them. Voiceless and powerless.
"Politics are messy. Politicians are all the same. It doesn't matter anyway. Democracy doesn't work."
WHO THE F ARE THESE VOICES?
