Quell horror
Had dinner with the family last night. Mom insisted on cooking.
My brother cut up the raw chicken, tightly wrapped the plate of cut chicken in plastic and placed it in the fridge.
Leaving the knife, empty package, cutting board and all that raw chicken juice covering half the table.
Mom, in making the dinner, never washed her hands or anything else.
Long story short - raw chicken handled and /everything/ in the kitchen was touched by those hands and nary a washing.

I did my best to clean even as the prep was still going on? Got yelled at for wasting water. Total losing battle anyway.
I have no idea how our family survived all these years.
