"You like costumes!" They said.
"You should watch Bridgerton!" They said. "The costumes are amazing!"
Article quote:
Bridgerton” is also a romantic fairytale, albeit a very sexually-charged one for grown-ups, and makes no attempt to pass off inaccuracy as history. Mirojnick explained to Harper’s BAZAAR that she wanted to “overlay the look of the Regency era with a bit of a modern sensibility, make it aspirational, intriguing, and with… a layer that would actually be very imaginative.”
Ok, so they ball dance to modern music? They wear brighter colors? They speak modern English? Ok, fine.
Wtf is this?
This is one of the best outfits presented and they wear plastic beads and sequins in their "aspirational" attire?
Create whatever era mash-up you want cuz "imaginative"? Does that mean "can't be arsed"? 🤔
Fit like crap? Oh, "it's her character"? You are doing her dirty. Beyond the bad fit the whole thing is a mess.
And explain the men having bad tailoring then?
Seriously that sewing is crap! These guys have no money for tailoring? The costumers can't be arsed?
I am not asking for historically accurate? But these makers keep harping on how they "kept the silouette" when CLEARLY not. And I know the silouette from having seen, I dunno, ANY other movie?
The materials are cheap. Which I'm ok with for a show on a budget? But they blew the budget on cheap plastic and cheap material and cheap tailoring it ALL SHOWS.
Imagination could have gotten them past the budget constraints? The only imagination I see is being used to describe their results. Very, very fictional.
"Amazing costumes", indeed.
