People watching

There was not much this weekend. Shout out to the young, fit dad with a front-face baby carrier strapped high on his puffed out chest.

This perch caused the baby's dangling legs to swing freely. And they did, swing in wide circles with dad's every step. Helicopter legs. Too funny!

The other thing of note was the dad who held a young child's hand in one of his own while his other hand held the dog.

It was a very large, very strong, rottie-leaning mix with thick fur. The dad held the tight collar, and possibly the neck, as the dog strained forward with every step. No leash. The dad remained ramrod strait as he was strained against. I had to wonder, in the fight over who leads, how often dad forgot which hand was gripping onto his small, delicate child...?

In New Orleans I saw many dogs. Most wore harnesses. Most carried their leash in their mouths. Still stayed within a few steps of their owner.

Imho, if you have a large rottie mix it should be trained like /that/ and not constantly straining against your grip on its collar, before you bring it into a shopping mall.

I miss my rottie.
