I voted.

I voted to hope for changes in a system that I no longer believe in. I have little faith in Amerika watching the things I watch and study. I know things I am not supposed to know. The people with the "Just watch the Fox news channel and shut up, They never lie, they're Fair and Balanced!" kind of mentality, I am as far from as one can get. I want to have hope again. I want to believe in my country again. I want to see a future that my daughter can grow up in that is better than the one I had with constant threat of Nuclear Annihilation being a cultural reality. I want to see greater equality for all peoples of my country. The poor and the not so poor, the red, brown, black, yellow, and white, the straight, the TS/TG, the gay, the in between. I have no fear of those comfortable with themselves, I have fears from those that want to change those who are different and make everyone the same. I have hope that the new administration will hold the last one accountable for it's literal Crimes against other nations and ours. I want blood. I want hearings. I want HEADS. We currently live in a corporate Plutocracy, not a democratic Republic. We have lost many collective rights we rarely even used but when we need them they are already gone and believe me, we will miss them. I hope that at least some of this will change for the better. I hope the words I hear that bring me nearly to tears will come from a man who believes what he says and will try with all his heart to do what he knows is right. He is inheriting the worst mess we have seen in modern times. I hope he will be supported by those that will seek to share his limelight. I hope that those who want a return to the greed and power for themselves will get their due and crawl back under the rocks they hide under when the light is shone upon them. I am not a Democrat, nor a Republican. I usually vote Libertarian if I can and have any understanding of the individual involved. I generally vote for less governing of the peoples rights and more of the unrestrained corporate power to be brought in check. I tend to think that the rules we have set so long ago by a few geniuses that fought for their rights and freedoms are pretty cut and dry and clear, and make everyone safe and fair if we read them and abide by them in concept and in word. Those in power just do as they see fit and leave the little man out of it. Typical of most nations. We set up a system long ago to give power to the People of this nation against tyranny and greed, and religious and cultural persecution, for all of our people. However... we have to take that back with diligence and patriotism. I have the numbers of my congressmen and senators in my phone. I send e-mails and yes sometimes even snail mail letters to those causes I am passionate about. I want FULL disclosure about our place in the universe and those we share it with. I want an opening of the technologies we have captured and or invented that will change the world. I want to have hope again about the future. I want a world where torture is known to be wrong. Not to be sanctioned by the government against ANYONE in our custody, for ANY reason. It is wrong. We all know it. If for some reason I was placed in a situation that I was responsible for saving the lives of millions of my fellows and it would take torture to get the answers I needed, then I would do it without a second thought, and knowing full well I deserved every consequence of my actions before a court of law. If you have ever been there and you know who you are then you have my condolences. It should however NEVER be condoned by a government against its own or anyone's people. I hope our new President knows this in his heart too and takes immediate action to rectify the atrocities our country has been guilty of committing for the last eight years against our own and others. His mettle will be proven in these and many other actions very soon. My prayers and hope go with him. Don't let me down Mr. President. Good luck and God speed. Call me if you need me.
