Dominic’s POV

I was standing outside a shop named Vulture Records, the shop were Matt worked. Should I visit him today or would it seem weird? I knew he would be there; he had said he would be there all day since one of his colleagues was sick.

I stepped inside; the walls were lightly painted and the light was not too bright. Alternative rock music streamed trough the speakers at just the right volume, not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation and not sow low that you couldn’t hear it properly. A woman with long dark brown hair, a bright blue t-shirt, black skinnies and red converse came over to me.

“Hi! May I help you with something?” she asked.

“Well, I was going to say hi to Matthew, but it seems like he isn’t here,” I answered.

“Oh, Matt will be back in a minute. I asked him to go and buy some paint for me; the store is expanding you see. But I bet Matt has already told you that. I’m Sierra, by the way,” she smiled and offered me her hand.

“Nice to meet you Sierra, I’m Dominic,” I said and shock her hand.

“If you don’t mind me asking, how do you know Matt?” Sierra asked me curiously. An odd question to ask, I thought, but I still answered it.

“It might sound strange, but we randomly met at a bar and we just… I don’t know how to explain it, but we just clicked,” I answered. I tried to hide my confusion over her question, but I believe I failed.

“Promise me one thing: believe in his side of the story, the true one,” Sierra whispered. I wanted to ask her what she meant, but as I was about to open my mouth to speak I heard a noise from the door to the backroom.

“Dom! What are you doing here?” Matt asked with a surprised smile.

“Like I said: I’d like to stop by one day,” I smiled.

“That’s right, but I didn’t expect it to be so soon,” he said.

“Me either. But I wanted to see the shop before the expanding,” I said. There was a strange tension in the air. I felt Sierra’s eyes on me, watching my every move. “I like shop, it is really nice.”

“I’m glad you like it,” Matt said. It was quite clear that he too felt the strange tension hanging in air. It was odd, earlier when we had lunch, there weren’t a sign of any kind of tension. I came to the conclusion that the tension was there because of Sierra watching our every move and listening to our every word.

“I should get home and make dinner, or else William will raid the candy cabinet. See you tomorrow then,” I smiled.

“See you tomorrow!” Matt said and smiled.

As I stepped out of the shop I let out a sight. Why the hell had there been so much tension? I mean Sierra couldn’t be the only reason. Maybe it was the words she had told me before Matt arrived. What did she mean with ‘his side of the story’?

---------------

“Anyone home?” I shouted as I stepped inside my house.

“Yes, I’m home, Emilia and Vince are here too,” William shouted from his room on the second floor. Emilia and Vince; I was not surprised that they were here because ever since nursery school, they had been inseparable.

I made myself a cup of coffee before I started making dinner. I couldn’t help it, but Sierra’s words were in the back of my mind. What had she meant by what she said? Where had I heard Matthew’s name before? Could that have something to do with the tension? And why were there so much tension all of a sudden?
