Just finished a lovely Labor Day weekend, and an unexpected sick day yesterday for sad baby.
Saturday AM David and I headed down on MARTA to the Decatur Book Festival - we got to see the creator of the comic strip Mutts, who now writes/illustrates children's books. That was pretty cool. Other than that we just wandered around the different tents and ate our colored kettle corn.
Monday we went to Stone Mountain, since we bought annual memberships on the last day of summer. This time we managed to hit the Great Barn (4 story indoor play area), the train, and 2 holes of mini-golf. We also got 2 glow-in-the-dark dinosaurs from the toy store for $1 each. Corey stayed home with Sara both days, 1) to protect the nap and 2)because we could tell she was not her normal happy baby self, less of an appetite and more cranky.
Turns out she had an ear infection and a little bit of a stomach bug, so I stayed home with her (and David) on Wednesday. She was actually doing better, fever broke and no vomit, but still cranky. While she was napping David and I assembled a wooden pirate ship with nails, pretended my car was a spaceship for a long time, and played with toys that had come in recent kids meals. We went to the park before nap just for a change of scenery and tried 1 hole of disc golf, I think that could be fun - with grown-ups :-)
Other than the minor illness, Sara's doing great, walking at full speed, talking a LOT (wish I could understand more of it!) and starting to put together 2-3 word sentences. I love watching her interact with David, and she does have certain expressions that make me go "wow, that looks just like baby pictures of me!" David still has a GREAT imagination, loves building, his coloring (or ability to sit down and concentrate for longer) has greatly improved, we're working on his ability to tell time. He loves his Pre-K class with his 2 best friends and is in soccer this month too.
