David cooked breakfast this morning. By "cooked" I mean started scooping sugar and flour out of their canisters into a bowl while I was feeding the baby. When I made it to the kitchen, I figured he was having fun and both canisters were low anyway. He directed me to add 2 eggs and 1/2 a cup of milk.

Trying to figure out what this could actually turn into with no butter or shortening in the house, I realized we were most of the way to waffle or pancake batter. I asked him which he was making (he had been telling me I would find out at the end), and he said waffles, so we got out the Winnie-the-Pooh waffle iron, in celebration of the new movie we will probably go see this month. We tossed in veg. oil, a little salt and baking powder, and we had some (very sweet) waffle batter! I cooked them all, and we sat down to eat.

Best of all, my little chef cleaned up after himself! He insisted upon rinsing the measuring spoons and cups (he had managed to use most all of them) before loading them in the dishwasher, and then when I asked him to rinse the bowl, it turned into 30 minutes of water play, with a little dish soap and 2 sponges, he filled up the sink and had a blast. What a good way to start a Friday.
