I really don't like making HUGE announcements like this, because they usually just sound corny. I just wanted to let everybody know that I'm eventually going to make this journal friends-only. I'll be kind of sorry that everyone won't be able to read it, but it's just way too risky. I want to be able to control who sees my journal, because I do put

I have not read "Idiot's Guide", but I would not recommend it on the basis of the very negative reviews on Amazon and the lack of an imprimatur. I purchased "Catholicism for Dummies" for my boyfriend, who is not Catholic, and I can vouch for it personally. That book does have the imprimatur and lays a good foundation for understanding Catholicism as a whole, not just as a collection of cultural artifacts. The rosary and saints are beautiful and wonderful things - however, to understand how they fit into the plan of salvation through the Catholic Church, you must start at square one. :)

I'm sure that you are already aware that there are some people within the Church who don't agree with its stance on abortion, birth control, homosexual marriage, and other issues. You seem like a well-grounded Christian, so I think you will easily be able to distinguish between what the Church really teaches, and what some people would like her to teach. What a great advantage it is that you have a relationship with Christ already! Trust Him. He is leading and guiding you constantly.
