Thoughts on "Day of the Moon" (6x02)

Disclaimer: As I'm not entirely caught up with the previous seasons, I expect that my interpretation of the events in the current season may or will be skewed. So please bear with me. :)

"Day of the Moon" (6x02)

Oh my goodness. Team Tardis is genius. Can I just say that? I mean, totally genius. By pretending to be wanted by the FBI and shot dead, and locked inside "the perfect prison" (with the TARDIS inside, on invisible mode), they ensure no interruptions or suspicions while they save the world. BRILLIANT.

And the recorder implant? BRILLIANT NUMBER TWO. Because now, they can remember their encounters with the Silence. It was a nice touch of creepy too, to see the team talking to each other, and all of a sudden see red flashing from one of their hands. The same to the tally marks on everyone's skin. (Moffat, I swear, has such an excellent way of making normal, simple, blasé things SO INCREDIBLY UNNERVING. Gas masks, stone statues, astronaut suits ... and now tally marks.)

River Song. Oh, River Song. I have yet to see her in action in the previous seasons. But wow. This. THIS. I was in absolute awe of her after that shoot-out. The Silence everywhere, and just herself and the Doctor. And nary a scratch on her, with the Silence dead all around her. Amazing. *starry-eyed*

Rory. I didn't like him when I first "met" him in Season 5, but I respect him so much more now, when I've seen his loyalty and love for Amy.

Amy. So, that pregnancy thing. Maybe I was wrong. I mean, the photo of herself and the little girl ... it's a little suggestive, yeah? I dunno. There's still too much withheld from us at the moment. I can't make up my mind.

The Silence. I was so relieved when they were defeated. I felt the urge to punch the air and whoop out loud when the Doctor's plan worked out. However, I have a feeling that this won't be the last we'll see of the Silence. There's a theory floating around on Tumblr (1. 2.) regarding who the Silence really are. I haven't seen all of Season 5, so I can't say for myself that it's a plausible theory. But it's an interesting parallel, nevertheless. Time Lords and the Silence. I wonder...

The girl. The scene at the very end... Was she doing what I think she was doing? 'Cause it certainly looks like what I think she was doing. Which then begs the question: How? How is she capable of regeneration? (Is that regeneration we saw?) Is she a Silence experiment? Is she Gallifreyan? What else is she capable of? And how does she fit into all this?
