But last Saturday I went to Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art school for the first time with junasea and acardart. Holy crap. It was so much fun, so many crazy art contest, crazy music and hosts....and after loosening up with quick poses, my art block of YEARS went away. My confidence in drawing lifted. I

I believe Jade has a Siberian. Breedable, eventually, but she needs to know the kittens will have buyers before she'll breed her...

wee. i need to see a breeder or see alison's friend's siberian cats to see if i'm allergic around them or not. I hope not. but while i was looking at the breeder's site one kitten goes for $800 - $1200. O_O

Jade got one because they were hypoallergenic... they are, but the long hair and extra layers of fur are just -wonderful- at collecting dust. So... if you're allergic to dust it kinda defeats itself.

I think that Sibes are hit and miss when it comes to hypoallergenicness. Some of them are awesome and are dander free, others just have the dander genes and will make people sneeze. Your best bet is to get a kitten from someone who has two hypoallergenic parents. Make sure they aren't a bad breeder... these breeders might say their cats are whatever you're looking for, but you might not get what you bargained for. If you need help finding a purebred cat, let me know!

thanks for the tips. althought i think i'm just doing all this research too early... i brought it up to most of my roommates and generally they're not thrilled with having a cat in the apartment:

-Takako seems ok as long as someone else is responsible for the cat
-Bryan jokes about kicking joshua tree like a soccer ball (he's kidding but he said he doesn't want to find cat hair on his clothes if we get a cat and i'd have to keep the litter box under my desk or something)
-ale prefers dogs and is like, "why get a dog-like cat when you can get a dog?"
-and dave... last time i told him we there was a remote possibility that we might bring nari home. he made such a fuss over that .00001% chance so i haven't even brought up this siberian cat topic to him

Probably when Ale and I get our own place will getting a cat (for me) and a dog (for ale) become a reality.

Hellooooo..I am the friend Acardat talked about. I do have 2 siberians. Lucas and Mina. They really are amazing and I have had many a cat before. I got them because I can not be without cat and my new husband is allergic. I did pay $900.00 per cat but I feel it is well worth it.

Are you local? You can always come over and hang with them to see how you are with them as no cat is 100% hypoallergenic. the thing is that people seem to be allergic to the enzimes and protiens that most cats produce and not the dander. These enzimes are in the saliva so when the cat cleans itself it is on the fur. sorry for the poor spelling.... Here are photos. Lucas is the older and much larger one.

Thanks you for the photos! Your cats are beautiful. I live in Brooklyn near Pratt. I'd love to test out my allergies with your cats someday. It seems that I can't have cats right now because of my roommates, but when it becomes a possibility I will let you know.

I'm also curious, which breeder did you go to?
