Firstly, my condolences and thoughts are with you and yours.
Secondly, my thankfulness that he is finally free from the prison Alzheimer's creates and that you and your mother have been living in with him.
Thirdly, never apologize for laughing, even in the face of adversity and sorrow. It is one ofthe few things that keeps us sane.
Fourth, you should write that book. Show the reality of living with the disease, for you and your mother surely lived with it alongside your father. Infuse the story with the funny moments and the horrific ones. Write it to show others what is was like and write it to begin the healing process.
Lastly, don't hide too long; life is to short and the more better memories we have of it, the more we have to look back over at the end of our lives. Plus, we'd miss you if you dsappeared.
Btw... Being a diabetic, I'd love to know how that stevia receipe goes. :)

I, too, am dealing with an elderly parent in the throes of Alzheimer's, so I read much of what you have written here and thought I could have written it myself. I am sorry for your loss, but happy for you that your father was loved and cared for by you and your family, as well as his caretaker right up until the end. I am not religious, but I do believe the people who help us take care of our loved ones like this are truly real angels who walk this earth. I'm glad one entered your father's life (and yours) when you needed them most.
