Repercussion
Thor ran his hands through Loki’s hair slowly as the younger man rested against his chest. It had been two weeks. Two bloody weeks since his brother had slept, or ate. Thor was sure the only reason he hadn’t wasted away to nothing was due to the fact that Thor was forcing water down the younger mans throat. He had tried on a number of occasions to get his younger brother to eat but Loki just turned his nose away.
Because his refusal to eat, and sleep he was changing. He was thinner; his skin was even paler than should be considered healthy, and he had large black circles under his eyes. Thor was worried that his brother would starve to death before he was able to get him better. He had talked to all the healers in the palace to see if they could do anything to help him, but they all claimed that it was in his mind, and there was nothing they could do for him.
Sighing, the Thunder God leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to Loki’s temple. The younger man twitched and cuddled deeper into Thor’s embrace. Besides bathing, this was the only time the younger man moved willingly. He had told him once-when he was still talking-that it was the only place he seemed to feel safe. The younger man had told him this the morning after the incident when Thor had woken with his brother pressed firmly against his side. After seeing his brother like that he couldn’t refuse him. Whenever the other man needed comfort Thor was there to give it, for how ever long Loki needed it.
“I love you Loki,” Thor whispered against the younger mans ear.
Loki dipped his head, “...why...” he whispered his voice soft, and rough from disuse.
Thor felt a thrill run through him at the sound of his brother’s voice. It had been far too long since he’d heard it, and he found himself craving it. But the thrill died as soon as he registered what it was his brother had said, “What do you mean ‘why’ Loki?”
Loki glanced up at him slowly, “I mean...why? Why do you love me Thor...I don’t think it is worth your time.”
Thor cursed internally. If he was ever given the chance he would kill that bastard Arasi for doing this to his brother. He had killed the strong, confident, cocky Loki, and replaced him with this Loki that was raw, broken, and afraid. It was so disconcerting to see the trickster like this. So mellow…so broken. He actually found he missed the other mans pranks.
Large arms tightened around Loki and he glanced up at Thor his green eyes questioning. Thor smiled softly at the other man, “I thought I already told you why,” He whispered, “Because you are my everything, my other half. The better part of me”
Loki looked down, “I think I might have been that once...but now I am...changed.”
Thor scowled and buried his nose his bothers hair, “I’ll kill him.” he whispered angry tears pricking at his eyes. But he would not cry. He would be strong for his brother.
The younger man looked up at him, his face blank. “I won’t even try and stop you,” He whispered softly before curling more into his brother embrace.
The two sat like that on Thor’s bed watching as the sun slowly started to sink bellow the horizon. He knew it was almost time for the dinner feast, and he decided he was going to try and convince the younger man to eat something. He had tried to get Loki to eat before but today he was really going to push it. He didn’t think Loki would want to go down to the hall, so Thor decided would bring food back to him. All he wanted was for his younger brother to eat.
“Loki,” He said slowly, “Will you please eat something?”
The younger man was silent. He didn’t even act like he heard Thor.
“Loki,” he pressed gently.
“I don’t want to,”
Thor sighed and looked at the bed, “Loki...”
Loki looked at Thor a sad smile on his face, “I’m not hungry,”
Thor huffed, “You haven’t been hungry for two weeks. The only thing I’ve been able to get down your throat is water. That’s not going to keep you alive brother. Please,” his voice took on a pleading tone towards the end.
Green eyes blinked, then fell down to stare at his lap. “I...I don’t know if I can.”
A flicker of hope grew inside Thor. He wasn’t outright rejecting the suggestion like he usually did. “How about I bring you some food, and you eat what ever you feel like eating, and I’ll eat the rest.”
Loki was silent for a long moment, “I don’t know...”
“Please Loki,” Thor begged.
Loki looked at him his brows pulled together slightly. Thor never begged. Ever. The young prince chewed on his lip for a moment before sighing and nodding, “Alright...”
Thor beamed. “Thank Valhalla!” He whispered happily. “Alright Loki. I’ll be right back,”
Loki nodded and moved away from his older brother-albeit rather reluctantly-and pulled one of the many blankets around him. He watched Thor disappear through the door before grabbing Thor’s pillow, and hugging it close to him.

Thor made his was quickly to the feasting hall where he knew supper had already started. When he arrived he was greeted by many concerned faces. Sif, and the Warriors Three jumped up from there seats and ran over to him, each clapping him on the shoulder, and smiling at him. “Thor!” Volstagg said “It has been far to long my friend. Are you here to dine with us?”
The prince smiled and shook his head, “No my friends. I am here to get food. I have finally convinced Loki to eat something,”
A look passed through the four warriors. Thor titled his head, “What?”
“How is Loki doing?” Sif asked after a moment. The whole feasting hall seemed to go quite when the question was asked. Thor glanced around and noticed that everyone was watching the small group of friends with interest, and concern, “We haven’t seen him in a long time,”
Blue eye’s dimmed slightly, “He is...he is well.”
“And he will get better.” Frigga’s voice rang out as she walked over to the group. The woman handed Thor a plate filled with food, and a goblet. “You should be heading back now.” She said after a moment. Thor noticed there was something in his mother’s eyes that was different. She looked like something was troubling her. He wanted to ask if she was alright but now was not the time. He had to get back to Loki.
Nodding he dipped his head in thanks to his mother, and flashed a smile at his friends, “I shall see you soon,” He promised before turning and walking out of the feasting hall.
He nearly ran back to his rooms, anxious to get back to Loki. Since the incident he hadn’t really liked to be away from the younger man, and when he was he was usually anxious, and antsy to get back to him. When he arrived back in his room, he slowly pushed the door open, and stepped it before closing it with his foot. Loki was still on his bed, one of his pillows in hand with his cheek pressed against it.
When he saw Thor his eyes lit up slightly, but dimmed at the sight of the food. Thor smiled softly, and walked over to his bed. He set the food on the side table, and slipped in beside the younger man, resting his back on the headboard. Loki pushed the pillow away, and climbed into Thor’s lap pressing his head under the thunderer’s chin.
“Everybody is worried about you,” Thor said softly, as he grabbed the plate and setting it beside him. “They all want to know how you are. I think they have missed your mischief as much as I have.”
Loki made a noncommittal sound in the back of his throat, “I don’t think so.”
Thor ran a hand through Loki’s hair, “Despite what you think Loki the people of Asgard love you.”
Another uninterested noise. Thor shook his head, and glanced down at the plate, “Will you try to eat brother.”
Loki glanced at the plate, and Thor watched as his face paled slightly, and took on a slightly green completion. He swallowed hard before slowly nodding and reaching for the plate. A small, hopeful smile spread across his face as Loki picked up a slice of fruit and slipped it in his mouth.

Thor was regretting having Loki eat now. The younger man had his face pressed into the blankets, his hands clenched tightly and his body trembling. A light sheen of sweat covered his face, and his body arched as he heaved. He had yet to actually expel anything but at the rate he was going Thor didn’t think he would have to wait much longer.
At first Loki had been hesitant to eat at all, but as soon as he started it didn’t seem he could stop. He had been starving himself after all. Thor hadn’t had the heart to stop him, even though he knew he should have. Now Loki was paying for it. The older man rubbed soothing circles along Loki’s thin back, and winced when his body jerked.
Loki whined and clenched his teeth. He would not throw up. He would not! But his body seemed to be working against him. Every time he thought he would be able to keep it down, another wave of sickness would crash over him like a wave before soothing out leaving him shaky, and in pain.
Loki pushed himself up suddenly another wave of nausea crashing over him, and as quickly as he could he conjured a bucket and puked out the contents of his stomach.
Thor’s head dipped slightly, and his eyes closed when it finally happened. He watched as Loki heaved, and retched even when there was nothing left. Finally the room fell silent except for the younger mans heavy breathing and soft sobbing. Loki spat into the bucket before using his magic and making the bucket disappear. Slowly, and shakily he wiped his mouth with the back of his head, before collapsing.
The older man could see the fatigue clear on Loki’s face. Reaching down he ran a soothing hand through Loki’s sweat slicked hair. “I know my last suggestion might now have been the best but...I beg you to listen to this one.”
Green eyes looked up at him, “What more do you ask of me Thor?” There was no anger in his brother’s voice. Only exhaustion, and resignation.
“Sleep.” Thor commanded gently
Loki blinked owlishly, “He will come back if I sleep,” He whispered his voice barely a whisper.
“He will not,”
Loki shook his head slowly, “You cannot know that.”
Thor was silent for a moment, “It is only a dream.”
“And yet the dream feels so real. Just like when it happened.”
“I will protect you. I will be here when you wake to fight of any bad dreams you might have.”
Loki stared up at the man for a long moment. His eyes were drooping slightly. More than they had in the last couple of weeks, “I will be here for you.” He whispered. “You need to sleep. Using your magic has worn you out more than usual. Please brother, sleep.”
“Every time I close my eyes I see him.” Loki confessed after a moment, “He is always there taunting me...touching me.”
Thor didn’t know how to react. He knew he could not protect Loki from his dreams, but he could be there when he woke up, which was the only thing he could offer. “He will no longer touch you.”
The two fell into more silence. Thor watched Loki hoping the other man would finally give up and sleep but he held fast. Finally after another hour Loki looked up at Thor, “Sing to me?”
It was a request Thor hadn’t heard in a long time. When they were younger and Loki had crawled into his bed with him due to fear, Thor would sing to the younger prince, helping him sleep. He didn’t think his voice was anything special, but Loki had always seemed to love it.
After a moment Thor nodded. He sang softly to the younger man watching with a small smile as Loki’s eyes fluttered shut. Every once in a while his green eyes would open, but then fall shut a moment later. Finally Thor heard the soft sound of Loki snoring. He pulled the smaller man closer to him, and pressed a soft kiss to his head. Even after he was sure the other man was in a deeper sleep he didn’t stop singing. Loki was finally sleeping, and the joy Thor felt was beyond anything he had felt in a long time.
