Confusion would be a bit of an understatement for what Gailardia was currently feeling. Under the circumstances, he felt it was a perfectly allowable emotion, considering that generally when one walked through the door into the Cathedral in Daath, they didn't end up in Grand Chokmah, of all places ( ... )

The number of people congregating to see for themselves what exactly the Fon Master of all people would be doing walking out and about without a fleet of guards (rather, that was what Ion assumed the people were most curious about) disippated as he made his slow, careful treck across the lovely work of architecture. The initial shock induced by the realization that he simply wasn't home anymore had long since faded, along with any real desire to find out precisely why. A wonderful something he learned through submerging himself in political affairs is that, despite how romantic it would be if the opposite were true, everything happens for a reason. The black and purple sky would not simply turn blue without an equally outlandish explanation. Such an explanation would unveil itself slowly but surely ( ... )

Well, that was odd. He'd noticed the crowd, but had assumed it was just another street performer or vendor hawking their wares. But as people slowly began to go their separate ways, he didn't see either of those things. Some sort of accident, maybe? Or--

Gailardia was jerked forcefully from his thoughts as he noticed the small figure separating himself from the crowd. The outfit was unfamiliar, but the face and the hair... he shook his head to make sure he wasn't imagining things. Surely the Fon Master hadn't been affected by the same transportation magic as Gailardia had? That was all he needed, to end up embroiled in more of an international incident than Akzeriuth had already been. Maybe this was all some sort of ploy of Van's, to get Gailardia away while he-- no, he wasn't going to think about that yet. Finding out what was going on with Ion came first.

"Fon Master?" he called, loudly enough for the boy to hear but hopefully not enough to attract unwanted attention from other passersby.

The gravity of the situatuation dawned upon him as the man called his name and his instincts told him immediately, this could be bad. All he could do at that instant was widen his eyes in slight surprise at the man's acknowledgement.

Though the softness of his voice belied the distrust he felt towards the other man, he responded with a small smile (though the perpetual darkness of his eyes were a clear enough indicator that he wasn't as genial as he appeared) and a few small, almost tentative steps towards the dark figure.

"Greetings," he said in turn, pale hand never leaving the railing of the bridge as he approached the man; while he wasn't looking forward to engaging with him unarmed, the idea of dying simply out of sheer stupidity or naivete on his part was just as unappealing, if not more so to the Fon Master.

So it was Ion. That was... worrying. Gailardia mentally winced, trying to keep his expression from displaying the discomfort he was feeling over the whole situation. "Are you okay, Fon Master? Is anyone... with you?"

He tried to think back to the last time he'd seen Ion. He'd been with Van and the replica at Akzeriuth, from what he'd heard from Luke afterwards. Of course, Luke had been spitting mad and in no fit state to hold a coherent conversation, but that was besides the point. Ion had been safe afterwards, Luke had said-- safe with Anise and Tear, at the very least. But neither of the girls were anywhere in sight.

He did his best to disassemble and rebuild the words spoken but could find no hidden meanings or signs of aggression from him. There was a tone of slight disbelief, but that was to be expected; after all, the Fon Master was walking about in broad daylight.

"I'm fine," the boy shifted his gaze to and fro to inspect the area for any threatening bodies before returning his vision to the God-General,"Are you an emissary of Daath's?" he inquired, not moving from his spot at the end of the bridge, though he allowed his hand to let go of the railing. The Fon Master figured that for now, it would be best to try and figure out who exactly this man was and what his connection to the holy city was; or more precisely, whether or not he was a threat.

Gailardia blinked in confusion. "Ah... yeaaaaah, you could say that. But--" he cut himself off, frowning faintly. He wasn't exactly close to the Fon Master, not really, but Ion was well aware of the identities of each of the God Generals. For him not to recognize Gailardia, well. That was a sign that something was up. More than just bizarre teleportation.

"... you're sure you're okay, Fon Master? Not to be blunt or anything, but you didn't hit your head or something?" He grinned in a self-depreciating manner.

The man's casual tone took him back slightly but he decided not to call him out on it or make a scene regarding it; what mattered was that he was a Daathic official and he would be able to take him back to the capital where he could get information relevant to his interests.

"As I said," there was an edge to his voice, as if the man had proposed something utterly preposterous, but the boy was still able to catch himself and watch his tone, "I'm fine. I simply need to return to Daath..."

"... yeah, you and me both," Gailardia said with a slight sigh. There was definitely something wrong here, but it looked like Ion-- if it really was Ion, which was seeming slightly less likely-- was just as unwilling to attract adverse attention from the crowd around them as Gailardia was, that at least gave him something to work with. And if this boy wasn't Ion... a replica, maybe? But he answered to Ion's name.

Glancing to the side to make sure no one else was listening, Gailardia gave a rueful grin. "I don't suppose you know how you got here? Because I'm a little iffy on that point right now, to be honest."
