Unless she had suddenly gained the ability to teleport from one town to another, something was utterly wrong right now. Because she had been in Daath the last time she’d checked. That’s where she was supposed to be too, the Fon Master could not ( Read more... )

This was all wrong. Asch had known it from the moment she woke, queasy and nauseous, in a place that couldn't possibly have existed. She had been at the Radiation Gate moments ago, watching that fool replica lowering the Outer Lands, and now...

Now she was in Grand Chokmah.

And it was bright and sunny and healthy. There was no miasma anywhere to be found.

This is all wrong.

Lucia brushed back her disheveled hair and just as she was about to turn and start looking for someplace where she could signal for her pilot, she caught sight of Sync heading into the city. It caught her off-guard for a moment -- Malkuth knew to be on the watch for the God-Generals, what was she thinking?

"Sync!" she called, her eyes narrowing.

Synch turned at the voice and tilted her head. She only knew one person whose hair had that colour of red so...

"Asch!"

She stopped walking for a few seconds before turned around completely and started walking towards the redhead. "Do you know how we ended up here? Weren't we in Daath the last time we checked?" At least that's where she'd been and she'd just met the teen before she had disappeared. Or reappeared here... Whatever.

"A...sch?" Synch blinked. And blinked again. Something was not right. Not at all.

Asch frowned, continuing forward to meet the other woman before she stopped. "Of course not. I haven't been in Daath in a week or more. You were supposed to keep her from stopping the core's vibrations, weren't you? What happened?"

Although that question was really the least of her concerns; what happened to the Qliphoth, she wanted to know, why were the skies clear and the water flowing through the aqueducts a serene, unpolluted blue? But Sync didn't seem to know any more about that than she did.

The only one who could even begin to answer that question was Van. He was the only one who had seen it.

"I was supposed to do what?" Synch paused and raised an eyebrow. "Stopping who from stopping the core's vibration?" It sounded... like a dangerous thing to do. Way too dangerous than she could handle.

"...What are you talking about Asch? You were talking to me just some time ago. And..." Synch blinked and stared at Lucia's chest. "...Are those breasts?"

What in Rem's name was going on here?! Asch was female? Was this just some trick? Or side-effect of replicating something. ...No, she had to calm down before she jumped to conclusions. "Hold on. Just... who are you?"

Are those breasts-- Asch almost caught herself glancing down to be sure, and then she crossed her arms firmly over her chest and glared daggers at the other God-General, trying to tamp down on the urge to flush. "What is wrong with you, Sync?" she demanded harshly. "You know perfectly well who I am, you just called me by my name."

Maybe the mission to stop the Tartarus had gone horribly awry. Perhaps Sync had hit her head, and-- conveniently forgotten her mission, and the fool replica, and that Asch was female.

She might not have given it a second irritated thought if not for the very, very noticeable lack of miasma. The redhead took a wary step backwards, taking a second look around her. Grand Chokmah was not where it should be and Asch was not where she should be and Sync was... behaving strangely. This was all very wrong.
