I had a ridiculously fun time doing this last year so I thought I'd do it again! And in the spirit of Walmart I'm doing it a day early (and for the rest of the weekend):D
(This is part of a future fic where Patrick adopts a five year old girl. It's not much, but Happy Halloween.)
Patrick never thought he'd be the kind of parent who uses a child leash, but Mia is tiny and feisty and he'd rather be safe than sorry. Pete thinks it's hilarious and keeps falling all over himself laughing, but he and Bronx are both dressed up as pork chops, so Patrick doesn't think he has any room to judge.
"I can't believe Ashlee let you two out of the house like that." Patrick says as Bronx and Mia make their way towards the next house.
"I can't believe you're treating your kid like a dog!" Pete replies, sticking out his tongue. Patrick just shrugs. He might be overprotective, but he's only been a dad for three months so it's totally allowed. A couple of houses later, while Mia and Bronx are busy comparing bags, Pete turns to Patrick with a serious look on his face.
"So how are things going? How's it feel to be a single dad?"
"It's amazing Pete. I just...it feels right you know? Now that I've got Mia things have never been better."
"I like seeing you so happy. It's a nice change from the last few years."
"I guess kids have a way of making you see what's important. This...raising Mia is the most important thing I'm ever gonna do."
Pete takes a long look a Bronx and then turns back with a smile. "I know exactly what you mean.
