So I had looked at the news this evening. Worst joblessness of my lifetime. Unscrupulous billionaires ruining peoples'entire lives, disappearing in jet airplanes, a notice from my credit card today that confirms the tightening credit crunch.... we're in good shape ourselves (most thankfully) but so very many people aren't. I can't get my head around it all, and don't want to. I begin to close up my little laptop, and a story catches my eye. Some space launch going on.
And so, I paused a few moments ago to watch the launch of the Kepler, sent to go where no man has gone before, in search of like planets. It's odd and fabulous and maybe even historic.... who knows?
Historic or not, for a few brief, rich moments as the rocket climbed and propellants burned (a beautiful thing in the black night sky) - for even just a few short moments, the hopelessness was nudged aside in favor of hope......
