Here's wishing everyone had a safe and if-not-happy-then-at-least-relatively-drama-free holiday. Ours was, thank goodness.
Friday night was a fun little get together... a gift exchange, and the first D&D game I've played in 20 years. I have to admit, I had a really good time. I came home Saturday morning, probably about 1:30, and then met friends for some last minute Christmas shopping on Saturday. YAY for Gift Card Only lines at Best Buy.
I think Sunday was the day Ben was in bed sick all day with the same crap that I had the week before, poor baby. Heh. When I broke down and visited the doctor a week ago (because I had had the same sore throat for DAYS), the doc that was there told me it was allergies. So. Apparently allergies are contaigious. *rolls eyes* Nevertheless, I DID get to sneak out and have dinner with
mistykat and her hubby.... and SCOOTER! YAAAAAAY, Scooter! :)
Christmas Eve was very low key... hubby recovering and my Dad ill with whatever crud was being passed around the nursing home. Christmas Eve is usually spent with my family, so I was completely unprepared for any celebratory meals of any sort. Solution? Sushi. Yeah, it's an unconventional Christmas Eve dinner, but it's right up the street, child friendly, stress-free, and a little more festive than, well, anything I could have put together. The best part I think was watching my child unwrap PRESENTS! She made quite the haul, of course. Daddy got her a Tickle Me Elmo, which of course was a big hit. It's kinda funny though... she likes him, but she's a little cautious of him. I think mostly because that sucker is LOUD. And of course no volume control. *sigh* Ah, well, that made Mommy's presents a little more attractive, anyway. ;) She got a magnetic drawing board, and a little electronic kitty that walks and meows and stuff. Much fun once mommy ran up to the corner gas station for batteries. :P
DH seemed to like the Warhammer dragon he should have known I'd deliver. But my gift to him was NOTHING compared to his gift to me. Seriously. I don't know if he had help or not, but he completely bowled me over.
I have gift certificates.
For airline tickets.
To go wherever I want, for as long as I want, while he keeps Sarah.
*dies* (again)
Christmas Day was a rush.... two hour drive to Tyler to visit the inlaws (FIL is undergoing chemo for stomach cancer, so we went to them). We did a Christmas lunch and gift exchange with them. FIL seemed in pretty good spirits, and it was a nice visit. Got a lovely pic of Sarah pounding the keys on Grandma Tina's organ, which I thin I'll print and frame along with a pic of Grandma playing the piano. Anyway, it was a good visit, and then two hours back to the nursing home for a gift exchange with my family. My sister threatened to boil over a bit, but.... those who know my sister, well, I think they'd back me up that that's par for the course. No major explosions, so it was good. I got my adad a set of magnetic poetry, so that maybe he can use some of the words to communicate a little better. We picked some out we thought he'd use: want, need, water, milk, etc. It was a late night to get home, but home we are....
And home I must go from today's thrilling adventures on the Borg ship. It's weird, the floor lights automatically go out at 6:00. So. My queue to leave, to feed my family and snuggle in for the night....
Good evening, all.......
