Grateful

What a gorgeous weekend! I feel so inspired and blessed to have my life and to be a part of this beautiful community.

I slept in on Saturday, one of my most favorite activities. Even though I'm testing on Friday, I didn't feel like going to the dojo, so instead we went into the garage and Pi took me through a 1.5-hr runthrough of all of my test material (in other words, everything). I hyperventilated and wheezed throughout - my lungs are seriously messed up ... wonder what it's going to take for me to do something about that.... *shrug*

After toweling off and a short rest, I went out by the creek and spun til I could spin no more. Been focusing on fans, poi, doubles & contact staff lately, drilling and solidifying in preparation for Fire Drums, cramming in as many new moves as I can so I can absorb more...more...MORE!!!

Pi invited me to learn a Queensryche song with him, so he donned his guitar and I plugged in the bass and started in on it. The first few dozen measures were fairly simple and I got them down pretty quickly, but then a bass solo comes in, and I only got down the first 3 measures of that before my fingertips told me to go fuck myself. I had fun, though...it was good to play some music again, especially with accompaniment. Hmmm...perhaps it's time to resurrect DICK NERVE?

Physically exhausted at this point, I lay down and read for a while. Pi had recommended the autobiography of Anthony Kiedis, the frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and i've been absorbed in it for the past week. Time calls it, "A frank, unsparing, meticulous account of a life lived entirely on impulse, for pleasure, and for kicks." He's lived through the greatest highs and the lowest lows throughout his life (high for the 1st time at age 4!), and it makes quite the story. I rarely re-read books, but even though I'm not even done with this one yet, I can hardly wait to read it again. Highly recommended.

In the evening we went to Jelly's for Resonance v.2 - and I danced and danced and danced. We did 2 rockin fire sets, jam-stylie, with high energy and good audience response. Jelly's was the 1st venue I ever performed at 3.5 years ago, so it has a special place in my heart. Psytrance always has a special place with me...so combining the 2, and doing it with a ton of my lovely family around me, was just perfect. <3 Thanks again to the Psymonthly crew - you guys are wonderful! Next month's event is going to be a free party in the park - stay tuned for details.

Speaking of which... there was a Panda Rejects party at Bunny Meadow on Sunday. Tons of people I'd seen the previous night showed up, so the party just continued! Mmmm sunny Sundays in the park! It was so perfect, and I felt infused with the flow, so great spinny headway was made:

- contact staff :: spontaneously started doing both horizontal and vertical propellors, & integrated them into the conveyor belt & steve.
- doubles :: solidified a new double-stall fishtail move I've been working on.
- poi :: fluidified my tosses some more, low & high, including juggling tosses with Pi...sofunyes!
- fans :: new finger spins, and stalls all over the place...wowee!
- hoop :: I hoop so rarely these days that it's great headway just to do it! =D
- contact juggling :: I can roll the acrylic up from my hand to the inside of my elbow and stall it pretty consistently now.

Sweet, sweet exhaustion. Thank you life, thank you community, thank you thank you thank you!
