Hoop + Couples Routine

Jul 11, 2006 12:34

I finally made a hoop a few days ago! It was time. It's 12.5' in circumference, 1" 100psi tubing. It's big and slow and pretty good for practice, and I've been getting my moves back and learning new ones pretty rapidly. I definitely want a smaller and thinner (and lighter and therefore faster) one for a fire hoop, but I first need to obtain some 3/4" 160psi tubing. It's nice to be learning a new/old (I hooped a ton when I was little) instrument, and I'm excited to diversify my fire abilities even further. And I must admit that I have a further goal in doing so, which is to offer some friendly competition and hopefully inspire the main hooper in our group to up her own abilities in response. And knowing our group's tendency to one-up each other, thereby advancing the art, that's just what'll happen.

Pi and I have also been continuing tweaking our couples poi routine, and have made some exciting advances. Saturday on the beach, particularly, Pi seemed full of ideas, one after another, and we flowed together beautifully and with increasing intricateness. I love this stuff, man! And I love this man...stuff!
