Cry for help

Any techies out there? I'm at a loss.

My wireless card decided that it's time had come, and kicked the bucket. I've purchased a new Linksys Wireless-G USB adaptor, and installed the software. The software installs successfully and the adaptor will connect to the network, but not to the internet. I spent a while on the phone with Linksys tech support, and the customer support rep there thinks that the problem may be due to an older version of the Linksys Wireless-G USB adaptor software that I currently have installed.

I had an old Linksys Wireless-G USB adaptor just hanging around, so I installed the software for it and hooked it up...alas, the old one was broken from being banged around in my purse for eight months. Oops!

When trying to uninstall the old version, I receive the following error:

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\many subfolders\Ctor.dll

Cannot find specified module.

I pulled up my work laptop, copied Ctor.dll, and placed it into the folder listed. Alas, that brought a new error:

Setup has experienced an error.

Please do the following:
Close any running programs
Empty your temporary folder
Check your internet connection (Internet based Setups)

Then try to run the Setup again.

Error code - 6003

I've looked online and I think something in my registry is FUBAR?

I don't know what to do but I'd really like the internet back. ;_; Someone from Linksys tech support is supposed to call me back within 48 hours, but I'm not holding my breath. As it is, they initially told me it was a router problem, for the sole reason that the router is out of warranty and then they could have charged me for support.
