After this coming weekend, I won't be in Nottingham at all for a couple of months. This is for a number of reasons. I have things to save for, aside from my MA this is; I have things to attend to in the south east; I've been neglecting my mates in other bits of the country; and finally, work is about to get bloody mental and they could probably do with me doing as much overtime as I can manage.
For this reason it's probably a sensible idea I start asking questions now about what people want to do on my birthday weekend. I turn 22 on July 6th, a Thusday, when I will be doing the four-hour-odd train commute to Notts and staying.... somewhere, not sure yet, and departing on Sunday. I fancy having a birthday party as I've never really had one, and inviting as many people as possible. Where's good in terms of venues? Does the Bag of Nails still have that deal where you can get a room for functions, for free?
I know Andrea and Gosha are coming down for the weekend, and it'd be ace if some other people could put in an appearance too. I really do understand if it's too far to travel, but it'd be wicked to see Caz, for eg.
Other (not party related stuff) I really fancy doing that weekend - going to the Man Ho restaurant in Hockley (yes I know, I am childish, but at least I'm not getting a kebab from the Khyber Pass in Radford), getting a boat and going on the Nottingham Uni lake, tres posh, and doing something gheigh and touristy. According to Nadja the caves are a waste of time and money, and the castle's boring as fuck, plus I've seen it a hundred times while training for re-enactment. This leaves the Galleries of Justice or the Robin Hood centre, where we can ridicule men wearing tights.
