New Yooooork, New Yooooork <3
New Yooooooork city! I have to say....this was probably one of the loveliest trips I've taken yet. I had an amazing time o____o and actually got to see more of the city than I did the last time. Probably because we decided to use the subway and walked....a lot....which ended in us getting turned around and lost a few times taha -____- It was awesome. Omi said it wouldn't be us if we weren't going the wrong direction....and if we think we should go one way, we should just go the opposite way. I had to agree lol And it wasn't that New York is a hard city to get around in, it's actually quite easy. The streets are a godsend since they're numbered in order, we would just start talking or laughing and we'd miss turns and such and have to backtrack....or jump off the subway lol
I enjoyed getting lost and being able to explore places I hadn't seen yet. I knew I wouldn't be taking any buses or taxis. I feared for my life with the new york driver that took me and a few other travellers from the airport to our destinations @___@ He kept trying to run people over....literally....like he was getting points for barely missing pedestrians and other buses by an inch LMAO The guy I was sitting next to, who was also from Texas kept looking at me with horror in his eyes and then laughing taha It took about two very long hours to get through the traffic in Manhattan, even with the bus driver weaving dangerously in and out of the traffic and running redlights....but in those two hours I talked to the dallas guy....I love random chance encounters. I learned the guy was coming to New York to study medicine, but he wasn't so sure he would like living here when his first experience in the city was nearly getting killed by an insane, and very angry bus driver who kept yelling in Italian....tahaha Eventually dallas guy got off the bus and I was dropped off in front of the chelsea hostel....and immediately glomped by a crying Omi tahaha *sqeals* It was surreal meeting her face to face the first time. We knew each other so well....and yet hadn't met physically until that moment, such a strange feeling! I knew immediately we were going to tear the town up taha
In soho we found so many little nooks and shops where I emptied my wallet...just getting things for everyone for christmas o___o I have no shame when it comes to buying gifts for people. I'm such a gift whore >_> I did splurge a bit on myself though too. I bought a snow hat that had kitty ears....and my friend bought herself a koala hat, since that was one of her nicknames. So she was koala and I was kitty kitty. taha I was petted many times during the trip >___> *purrs* It was a good thing we got those hats though because it was freeeezing by the end of the second day >< That first day it was about as cold as it is here in Texas....New York, you tease. And then the city decided to laugh and breathe a horrible blast of ice-cold wind into our faces. I felt like I was marching across the frozen tundra of course....beside a shirtless guy and a chick in a very revealing mrs santa suit. Wtf New York...wtf. I toughened up and got used to it though. Never thought I'd say that, but I braved the cold...and had fun in it. taha
Aaah...and our neighborhood. What can I say about our neighborhood....well....walking down the street, I quickly realized what sort of neighborhood Omi had set us up in, seeing the random rainbow flags hanging here and there.....and umm...the leather bar some buildings down LMAO I love my friend so much taha One night we went walking to find somewhere to grab a drink and relax and we stood in front of this particular bar, contemplating whether to go in or not. My gay senses told me it was an exclusively male club, but my senses didn't tell me what Omi's phone told us. It was a leather BEAR club LMAO We thought about stumbling in and pretending to be lost just to see what was going on behind that black curtain of an entrance but eventually we just walked away laughing taha leather bears are not our type anyway. Only leather pretty boys taha >___>
We eventually found a nice little bar down the way that was mixed and comfortable. I bought Omi a long island.....that was incredibly strong o____o And the guy in the line behind us told the enire bar I was buying drinks for everyone Lol yeaaaah....maybe if I had the money. Only pretty girls get my drinks though yo. tahaha *pops pimp collar* lmao Yeah whatever, right? XD We just sat by the window at a little rickety table sipping drinks and talking, picking one another's mind, reveling in the reality that we were actually sitting across from one another talking....not through a computer screen after what 6...7 years of friendship??? Amazing. She was every bit and more I thought she would be and we got along so well, it was like we had known each other our whole lives...as Omi said when began talking excitedly that first night in the hostel lol We even discovered a few new things as the conversation got deep -___- And then we left the bar and went walking back to the hostel....until we passed a bakery...that had New York cheescake in the window. Omi made a complete U-turn and walked straight into the shop tahaha And I followed like a bad girl -____- We got two choco new york cheescakes full of delicious sin and laughed all the way to the hostel where we sat eating cheescake while drunk....or at least tipsy.....taha
Speaking of sweets....*takes a moment to take a deep breath and then pass out in choco bliss* We happened upon a heavenly bakery in little Italy that sold orgasms for your mouth. D: We literally sat on a bench (typed "bitch" instead of "bench" at first for some reason tahahaha >__>) and groaned in ecstacy as we ate our sweets....seriously, my taste buds were in shock because they'd never tasted anything so delectable. *shudders* I was so sad when I finished my little chiminee cake T_____T
Before this, we had been in China town eating amazing chinese dumplings....and fawning over our very adorable waiter who kept smiling at us tahaha I wanted to put him in my purse and run away >___> Omi agreed that we should steal him and bring him back to the hostel....but in the end we merely contented ourselves with watching the eye candy and orgasming over dumplings and talking japanese rock lol Actually we kept running into cute asian dudes. We met another one in the Egyptian temple where we took a picture of him and his friend for them and they returned the favor. I don't think I've ever taken as many photos as I did that trip lol ....or taken as many pictures of other tourists for themselves. I think I screwed up a particular group's photo because I didn't know how their camera worked lol *sometimes technology stoopid* Omi immediately recognized the group as "spanish" before they even spoke.....actually I think she took pleasure in picking out all the other spanish people around us....and there were a lot taha I know she misses Spain T___T But may her christmas trip back to Spain be amazing!!! One day I will follow. I would love to travel and see all of my friends around the world...that's my dream o_____o
One of the most fun, and magical parts of the trip was skating in central park at night....it was just so amazingly beautiful. I had never tried ice-skating before this and I thought I'd surely step on the ice and immediately fall on my ass LMAO But really, I just held onto my friend's hand and we raced around the rink, swerving around people like I'd been ice-skating forever taha It was almost like roller blading, but so much more fun :ooo We must have skated for hours -____- And before the skating, while we were walking through central park, we randomly came upon three of the seasame street characters.....wtf taha We took a picture with a tickling elmo and a big bird >____> NYC I love your randomness lol
Ah we also went to see the huge tree in Rockefeller center during one of our nights. I have to say, I encountered some rough crowds around nyc during my stay there both times, but this one was insane >____> You were literally swallowed up into the crowd and then jostled around like crazy and then the mothers were tugging their children around elbowing people taha We looked at the tree for a little while, and then was like...well fuck this, and went to Top of The Tower....which is I think 70 stories high o_o My favorite part was the elevator ride though LMAO because you looked up and there was a screen on the ceiling and it looked like you were going through space or something, sort of trippy...and I was pressed against this guy's ass because we were packed into the elevator like sardines and he turned around and said "I feel like I know you all so well. What is in my ass?" and I was like..."I am." LMAO How lovely -_____- When we got to the top it was just amazing. We walked around a bit and even braved the icy cold wind outside on the patio...thing...whatever it was lol We could only stand it for about 5 minutes, then ran back inside *shudder* The view was beautiful though. The empire state building was lit up red and it was just so breath-taking.
We payed a few visits to stores of interest during the day...like the lovely disney store taha....M&M world where we freaked out over the rainbow colors and the sheer amount of M&Ms in the store >____> We're such choco fiends lol and the crazy Fao Schwarz toy store. I realized how many more awesome things kids have these days then I did when I was little. No wonder so many little kids are spoiled brats these days lol >< Maria and I were like little kids running around the store playing with everything. We even got on the big piano for a bit, but there were so many little kids running across the keyboard, we didn't stay on long lol I encountered a set of medieval figurines at one point and set eyes on a beautifully detailed purple fairy sitting on a horse....and so I brought her home :D I couldn't resist lol Now she's sitting with my collection, looking all noble and shizz.
Our last day we visisted the amazing metropolitan museum....and I was in history ecstacy, seriously....my eyes and my mind had many orgasms. I'm sure Omi's did too. We're both history buffs lol We walked around for FOUR hours and still didn't get to see the entire thing. We only went through half of the exhibits, but at least we did all of our favorites like ancient Rome and Egypt and the paintings gallery, ect. ect. The armor exhibit though took the cake. I could have raped all the suits of armor they had displayed *shudder*
Aaah Our last night in Nyc was bittersweet T____T Omi cried when we hugged for the last time, and then I cried after she left T____T But I promised we'd meet up again before she moved back to Spain. She wants to go to New Orleans...and I want to bring her there o___O It'll be awesome. I had to stay an extra night because of flight times and prices, but I wasn't complaining. I went walking, visited a few shops and then slipped into a sushi shop :oo I realized how many lonely people there are in New York while eating my kimono sushi taha I stayed for a few hours just eating and watching the view outside the window, but in those hours, I noticed about ten people come in by themselves to eat. Half of them looked very lonely, the other half looked very busy on their laptops and such taha I would imagine even with the sheer amount of people in the city, it can get pretty lonely -____- I was lonely that night, so I read Omi's story she had given me that first day we met up. She had typed in "To Ashley, because it all began with a story." taha >___> Indeed it did. She had written a beautiful fairytale and now I'm waiting for her to send out the second part o___O
