If holidays were countries, I think now Christmas is England. For me it started with A Christmas Carol in elementary school. I read Mrs. Cratchit. Scrooge pops up every year, although he is sometimes transformed into an American or a duck. Caroling has a
Victorian feeling. And there's sticky, figgy and plum pudding sometimes.

I first saw the Queen's Christmas message on TV in an Irish Bar in Barcelona, since then, there has been Young Victoria and Doctor Who and this year The King's Speech and Ricky Gervais podcasts on Nick's iPod in the car.

I'm almost done with my year of recording the movies I see. My mom and I watched Holiday Inn and she remarked, as she always does, how unattractive Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby are. But this year Fred was familiar as the postman in Santa Claus is Coming to Town (which I didn't actually see this year.)

I saw parts of Surviving the Holidays with Christina Applegate and Tony Soprano on TV in the hotel room.

One movie from 2010 I missed that I'd like to see is Shutter Island. Nick recommends Mama Mia which I've never seen. He is a huge fan. I can't believe he hasn't seen Muriel's Wedding. The two seem like a great double feature.
