I Can Haz Collector's Edition?
The midnight release of Wrath of the Lich King at Best Buy Langley was loads of fun! We met our buddy Darryl (Lethality) at 8:00 pm, loaded up with Tim Horton's coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, and a big box of Timbits.
While there weren't many people when we got there - only about ten - by nearly 11:00 the lineup stretched all the way down the face of the building, at least 100 people. And it was COLD.
Highlights of the evening were meeting a whole ton of geeks to talk WoW with for four hours, a girl with bright pink hair and goggles dressed up as a gnome, the same girl duelling with plastic swords with one of her friends, and WoW Jeopardy hosted by the Best Buy staff! I got picked to compete and came SO CLOSE to winning a $50 gift card, but got beaten out in Final Jeopardy... *cry* Still great fun, though, even when it started raining halfway through the game.
Best Buy staff came out and handed out numbered cards for the Collector's Editions - they had 48 onsite, and Jeff and I scored 9 and 10. When the doors opened at 12:01 they let 25 people through at a time - we got in the first rush and ten minutes (and $300 later) we were out in the car with TWO Collector's Editions and TWO regular copies of the game!
Naturally we ran home and installed, and by 1:00 am we were on the zepplin to Howling Fjord (but that's another post).
