i fear i just have to copy and paste from myspace :)
The youngling lost his second front tooth last evening. At long last he has reached his desired status as the "toothless wonder". I must admit the "ffftthh" sound that he now emits in lieu of "th" cracks me up. I am not accustomed to him having faulty linguistic articulation (beyond normal growth patterns, that is) and he is simultaneously amused and frustrated by it. :) In any event, he looks and sounds adorable.
We also went to the dentist today and had a tooth extracted. This means the toothfairy will come twice in one week. Which also means that once again I have to go fumbling around in the dark. Last night's deposit went well, in truth it was the first one that was successful (we are only on number 4 and andrew handled the third visit). A "successful deposit" is defined by an example of what not to do (i.e. my first excursion into my role as the "toothfairy"). This entails items such as my tripping over a toy and landing on top of my sleeping child (who thankfully snorted and rolled over none the wiser), and/or tripping over the bedpost and hopping out of the room (see second excursion).
Two nights in a row increases the probability of a repeat performance of said first/second excursions exponentially. Ideally, I figure I will make it to his 8th or 9th tooth before I am discovered. THis of course means he will surely wake up tonight at a moment when there is no other plausible explanation for my presence save for the truth.
As an aside, I am surprised at how well he handled the procedure. The dentist was as well, or at least, he commented on it several times. When asked how he was doing Isaac simply said "i am tired and want to go to sleep, but i cannot because i want to listen". curious little creature =) He was listless and sluggish for about two hours. After that the drugs wore off and the pain kicked in. I gave him a popscicle and a book on how to draw dinosaurs. Thus far he has had me draw an Archaeopteryx (which wasn't too shabby) and a Dilophosaurus (which was a disaster).
Currently he is building a fortress in his room for his dragons (while mommy is supposed to be writing her paper for school..not playing on myspace). I am going to take the slightly "fffy" sounds on the edges of the "woosh" and "boooogsh" as a sign of a youngling well on his way to recovery.
