I had been debating for quite sometime on whether to get a little brother or sister for Mercutio. Because I live alone, Mercutio is often on his own and I worry that he gets lonely while I'm at work. On the other hand, I worried whether or not he'd accept another cat in the household.
Today, I happened to be going past my local library and noticed a sign for a kitten adoption fair. I was pretty much doomed as soon as I saw the sign :). I walked in and said hi to all the kitties but no one caught my eye until the very last cage. While I was trying to attract the attention of an uninterested black-n-white, I noticed a blanket lump moving in the cage next door. After a few seconds a little orange nose peeked out followed by a sweet tortie face. She looked up at me, as if to say, "Are you my mummy?" and, well, I think you can figure out the rest of the story :)
Mercutio's little sister is named Louisa May (after the author) and is 8 months old. Her foster mommy asked me if I would give her a different name and I thought about it for a bit but in the end I decided to stay with Louisa May because it just fits her. She is very sweet and immediately started to burrow into my arms when I picked her up from the cage.
Her foster mommy is bring her home tomorrow night which gives me the rest of the day and tomorrow to kitten-proof the apartment and to get some supplies. I'm not sure what to expect from Mercutio when Louis May is introduced. I know it's going to take some time for them to get used to each other but apparently Louisa May loves being around other cats. I know a lot of you have sucessful introduced new cats into your households so any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!
I will post pics and updates as soon as I have.
