It was a bit of a struggle this morning getting up at 7am so I could put my plan in action ( I stayed up later than I had planned due to the evilwonderfulness of BSG dvds) but I won the struggle and after breakfast I headed out to the park, iPod in hand.
First thing I noted is that I should have stretched more before trying to jog. About halfway around the park my problematic knee said "Oh, frak this!" (Did I mention I'm watching BSG? ;) ) and I had to slow down to a medium walk. I made it the rest of the way around the park and the knee spasm went away so I went a bit of a faster walk. I think jogging may be something I'll need to work up to slowly. I guess I'm kind of like the little girl camper that Peppermint Patty always gets put in charge of: "Ok, here I go! ::splash::". Unfortunately, in real life, one can't just jump into things full speed and expect to be successful on the first try.
I walked around the park twice and then walked about 3 blocks to our local paved bike path. I walked a couple of blocks on the path, thnking how much I need to get a bike, and then I walked back to the park and around to my apartment again. All told I spent a solid 45 minutes walking at briskish pace. Tomorrow I think it will be the pool and some swimming/water walking.
I have to admit, I feel a lot more awake and alive today than I have in the past month or so. We'll see how long the motivation sticks this time.
