Right. In essence. I'm working on the PR side of the business covering not just the store I work at now but a wider area. I organise media coverage as well as doing things like organising our visits to the hospitals to visit sick kids etc. In the more mundane reality of this new job I'd be organising BBQ "Meetings" for the community groups like schools etc that want to have a fund raiser. I have to run through the legislation with them so they understand that it's not our problem if they kill themselves on our property etc ;). ( I laughed my arse off when it was actually explained to me that it was one of my duties)
And now, from the huge phone book thick book I have to memorise for this new job;
"Community Involvement activities at Bunnings are undertaken within or outside Bunnings stores or store support environments. They can take the form of sponsorship and fund raising activities to a cross section of community organisations or groups."
I'll be starting a new program for environmental sustainability for schools as well. It's never been run so I'll have a lot of work helping to be a trial region. Nothing is ever simple in my world. It just means that I'll be working a lot with people in Melbourne to get things going smoothly. I have minions to actually go to the schools and deal with the kids. Which suits me fine. ^_^ You know what I'm like with kids.
There's going to be a lot of reports which is actually a little daunting. As well as meetings with State Office as well as the National Bosses. So I'll confess that I'm a little freaked out.
A lot of it isn't at all glamorous. But the big bonus to me is that there's no customers. And I'll have pretty flexible hours. And more weekends off! HUZZAH.

Step one for world domination is well underway.
