We were out all day today...
After Mass (to which I wore my new dress and after which I was
kidnapped by Puck with whom I took part in the great bags-on-car
escapade with), we came home and I practiced piano a little before
Uncle Kevin and Aunt Veronica came, when we all went out to Giant
Burger for lunch. Then we drove around Lake Grove and looked at
all the big fancy houses with lots of land. After that, we went
downtown and went to the Chinese garden. Word to the wise: do not
take a guided tour unless you actually care about what they'll be
telling you. For example, only take a tour in a Chinese garden if
you care about both the garden and the Chinese. It will be boring
otherwise. Anyway, then we went to the Rogue Brewery and got
soda/beer/water/etc, before heading off to Powell's. There, I
roamed the sci-fi/fantasy section in the Gold Room, looked at some Star Wars
books, got bored, went to explore the Pearl Room, found the
songbook/sheet music section, spent a long time there, went to the
movie/TV section, found biographies on both Johnny Depp and Michael J.
Fox (note to self: put Lucky Man on hold at the library) and giggled like a fangirl, gaped at the fact that they had five books on The Prisoner (I didn't even know books about The Prisoner
even existed, but apparently it was more popular than I thought), went
back to the Gold Room to see if anyone else was ready to go, found out
that no one was, glanced over the graphic novels and romance novels,
was disappointed that they didn't have what I was looking for, explored
the mystery section, thought about getting an Agatha Christie book for
Puck, decided against it, got sidetracked by Sherlock Holmes, found
that Uncle Kevin and Aunt Veronica were back, went to pay, ran back to
the Gold Room to get Mommy, who was reading a fantasy art book, made a
side stop at the Rose Room to browse the young adult section (sort of
looking for Tamora Pierce)
And that was my giant sentence that took up half a paragraph.
The rest of the evening wasn't that exciting... we went to Ethiopian
for dinner, then came back and had Mochi for dessert. I played
from my new book while everyone else talked, and now here I am.
I'm going to go back up and use the laptop to check my Friends list,
though, because the stupid parental control is acting up again.
Random Interesting/Cool/Weird/Awesome Stuff:
On the way to the Chinese garden,
there were some people in a car listening to "One Song Glory" and my
mom said something along the lines of, "That's going to be you and
Julia when you're older," and I was just like, "Heck yes! We'll
even be listening to that song!"
There were Jesus action figures and bobble-head dolls at Powell's.
I got another Broadway songbook... for only $12.95! That's pretty
cheap for a book with 80 songs. And it has "Memory" in it!
