There is no ion with a +3 charge that has [Ar]3d^3 as its electron configuration!  There isn't even an atom that has as [Ar]3d^3 as its electron configuration!

I'm so bloody confused.

EDIT: Oh, wait. I just realized that the electron configuration doesn't matter, except to tell you how many electrons are in the ion. Now it all makes much more sense.
