As a fellow fatty I buy jeans usually from Torrid.com but that can be expensive. Ezibuy has some niceish looking skinny jeans for Autumn under Sara if you haven't tried there yet. Other than that IME it's basically Farmers which as you say is hit and miss. The fatty dilemma ay! I hope you find something and aren't too demoralised. The jeans are wrong, not you.
Thank you anonymous poster :) I've looked at Torrid. I'm weary of buying things online I can't try on myself as different brands, different cuts and all that. I can't see any nice jeans under sara on ezibuy , some kinda nana looking ones. But I shall go to farmers and see what they have. failing that a trip to kapiti and check out Suzanne grae. I know mostly it's the jeans since I muffin top when I'm naked there isn't much i can do about that. it's just finding a pair that don't make it look worse. And mostly they do it by being too tight in the waist but just right in the hip/bum area. but if I go up a size they are too big in the waist and gape.
Yeah, I took a risk one time and it paid off a bit. They are stopping carrying my fav brand of jeans and the thighs on my current pair are just starting to fall apart so I am heading into new jean territory.
I saw the Ezibuy jeans in the Autumn preview that was sent out to me in magazine format. You can check the Autumn preview and they are on page 90-91.
What I mean by it's the jeans and not you is that I am kind of a radical fatty. I don't think there's anything wrong with being fat. Most people don't get it, but being happy to live in your body is much better for me than fighting a losing battle (pardon the pun). It makes me sad when women blame their bodies for not fitting clothes that are mass produced cheaply to fit a wide range of bodies and make a quick buck rather than actually trying to clothe a person.
Do you sew? I know people who successfully take in their jeans to get the right size, but I'm not that sewing machine savvy.
I might take a risk on some from torrid, worst comes to worst i sell them on trade me.
I can sew a little which I had seen someone do recently had just put darts down the back of the jeans as they were obviously too big in the waist for her. So that is something I could do.
Oh I blame my body a lot, but I know it's also that I would be better getting clothing tailored. but that's expensive :)
I'm 90% happy with myself about 80% of the time, and I know that it's all about how you carry yourself and how you feel about yourself. That doesn't mean I can't hate clothes shopping and wish that i could wear a certain style of clothing that I think looks rocking on the rack but I know it doesn't on my body. I will get there. it dosen't help when most of the friends you have are skinny, and attractive or down right sassy.
* I still don't know who you are, aside from the fact we seem to have a mutual friend.
i actually found a great pair at ezibuy, but then, im a different shape to you. you should go check out their shop on thorndon quay; actually trying things on makes such a difference.
I know which is why I'm weary buying online. I'll get there it's on my list of things to do next week along with getting insurance for Gabe new insulin pump, picking up my new sensible yet sassy hand bag. Lunching in town and generally enjoying some time with my boy in the sun, before we get stuck in hospital for 3 days the following week.
Clothes shopping though is the bane of my existance, well not true it's a close second to trying to find knee high boots that fit =/
Doesn't help not having someone who can go with me and tell if if something looks good or not, as I only see the bad bits.
okay, this might be my cue to comment (even though this is sooooo not my conversation).
I'm on hour-long lunch breaks all next week (and the next... and the next). If you want someone to come along with you to Ezibuy on Thorndon Quay I can do that; you know where I work and how it won't be a hassle for us to meet and head down there.
Keep it in mind; I will help you with this, 'cos I know how awful finding jeans for us lard-asses can be.
