“I love working with David Strathairn,” said Mennell. “Aside from being this phenomenal actor he is a wonderful person. I love all the little nuances he adds to his work. He has these fascinating little moments in every scene. You can pretty much see why he is an Academy Award nominee.
“You obviously learn a lot just being in scenes with him.”
Now in its third week the show, which opened with a whopping 2.5 million viewers, will be 13 episodes in all.
“It’s such a nice chunk of work,” said Mennell, whose resume includes stints on the TV shows Fringe, Supernatural, Sanctuary, The 4400 and the blockbuster Watchmen. “I have never been so busy in my whole entire life.”
A look at Mennell’s resume and it doesn’t take someone with abnormal mental abilities to recognize a trend.
“Coming from Vancouver there tends to be a whole lot of science fiction shot there,” said Mennell, who got the taste for acting as a child. “But hey they have kept me happily employed for a decade.”
“As an actor you get to play crazy, wonderful things. In Sanctuary I have flown. Astral projection in The 4400. I had a radioactive, blue boyfriend in Watchmen,” said Mennell. “I like the surprises. The changes. I kind of view that not knowing as part of the fun of what I do.”
