Back from Cali

We just got back from a long 4 days in California. Not that the trip was unenjoyable, but it did seem long, as trips do where you are trying to make about 11 people happy doing various activities including the in-laws. And an amusement park. We went to Legoland, which was about our 3rd time and decided it's probably one of our last since it's for the under-10 set. Although the girls will enjoy it for awhile. Camille did great for her first vacation. She got pretty fussy with the carseat after a couple of hours so we had to stop and let her stretch her chunky leggys out here and there. Plus she caught a little cold and so was up and down most of the three nights, but other than the lack of sleep it was ok. :)

The kids got to play with their cousins that they rarely see, and although the boy that is Alex's age is some kind of math genius, he is completely socially immature. Imagine the scene from Dumb and Dumber where they say "do you wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world????" and then imagine listening to that sound all the time. That's what being around this kid is like. Alex and he are just polar opposites that way. And the more you avoid him or tell him to cool it, the more he gets right in your face. Yeah. That type of kid. Here's a pic of him, his (poor) mother and Alex:

And that was his behavior now that he has grown up a little. He used to be worse, if you can imagine. He has a younger sister about 2 years younger than Abby that Alex called "curious George" because she is everywhere and into everything all the time. Yep. Fun kids. But I think my kids had fun being around them, they were just glad not to be around them anymore. :) And the mother-in-law was her usual screwed up self: yelling at us for getting into town late because it screwed up the dinner reservations, not wanting any of her grandkids at her house for fear they will break something, get into something, or God Forbid enjoy themselves at all. But that is just her, and I'm used to dealing with her shit for the last 17 years of my life. Not that is doesn't make me want to headbutt her when she is in one of her full-tilt rants, but I'm stuck with it.

Here's some more pics (the last one of Camille is the absolute best of her ever) and then I'll shaddap about my boring trip crap:

Overall, a pretty good summer so far. We have another big trip to Utah planned which will be interesting with Camille. Abby turned 8 and had a fabulous birthday, and now my kids are at their friends' house and I am digging out of the laundry and Camille is taking a supernap because that trip tired her out. It's niiiiiice and quiet.

I hope everyone is doing well.

P.S. Oh yeah, we went to the LaBrea tar pits (woohoo, nothing says fun like looking at bubbling black goo) and they were filming a movie called "Hammer" there. I didn't recognize anyone, however. There was some tall redhead chick that was getting the star treatment but I didn't know who she was. Kinda cool seeing them film and stuff though.
