That's it, testing day is done, and I'm feeling pretty confident.
There were 13 people testing today, 9 doing their final physical test before their January intake, and 4 of us sitting the physical & academic for the first time.
I weighed in at 58kg again, but my height measured at 1.65m! I've shrunk!
As a woman in the 30-34 age bracket, I had to run 2.4km in under 12 minutes 25 seconds - I did it in 11:24
I had to jump to reach 40cm higher than I stand with my arms above my head - I got 45cm
I had to do 20 press-ups - I did 25.
I had to squeeze a combined total of 56kg in the grip test - I got 76kg (rock climbing helps)
So I passed all that with flying colours. I reckon I aced the verbal reasoning section of the academic test, only managed to finish 20/25 of the numerical questions in the time available, but apparently that's pretty normal, and I got through all the abstract questions too. There are no right or wrong answers for the personality test, so no worries there.
We should get the results of the academic test back next week (externally provided) and I'll hopefully get a nice letter in the mail putting me on the waiting list.
Someone said there were 35 people on the waiting list for Wellington back in May, and the first intake for Wellington since 2009 was in September this year - they only did 4 intakes last year, but there's apparently intakes in Jan, Feb, March & April taking some people from Wellington, but you hear so many different things, it's hard to be sure. Just have to be ready for the call up, and not let the fitness drop off - one woman didn't pass her final fitness test today, so she's back on the waiting list instead of being off to college in January.
