I woke up with two cats on the bed this morning - Spoons lying down at my feet, looking worried, and Greebo up at my face trying to get me to wake up and feed him - no baseball bat thankfully...
There are still moments of caution when passing each other in the hallway, some ocassional crying from Spoons, and the raised paw of dominant smack-down from Greebo, but they are getting on much better. They'll now both eat in the other's presence, which means they can be fed at the same time, and no-one is nicking the other one's food before they have a chance to eat it.
Basement Cat and Greebo had a scrap outside last night, and poor little Spoons caught the tail end of Greebo's anger when he came in - not his fault he's also a black cat. Later on Basement Cat came in to steal food, but encountered Spoons in the kitchen. Was rather surprised and left again - it would be nice if the two residents could keep interloper out. I'm sick of feeding him!
Took away the litter box yesterday - despite there being well over 14 square metres of turned earth around the house, Spoons kept coming back inside to go to the toilet. Now he's investigating where it used to be - perhaps it's hiding? At least he hasn't just used the space for a toilet anyway - he likes to dig, and with nothing to dig in, I think he is dissuaded.
In non-cat-related news, my rock climbing harness arrived on Friday, and I got shoes last Friday. Only made it to the top of one wall last Tuesday, but I was actually following the coloured routes, not just using any old handhold to get there, much harder, and lifting weights the previous day didn't help my arm strength last.
Saving most of my energy for the pack test next Wednesday - carry 20.5kg 4.8km in under 45 minutes. I've actually been training for it this time, rather than being dumped in it on my first day with the force. Last year I did it in 44:35, but I had to run bits to make that in time. With the training I've been doing I'm now up to carrying 18kg the distance in 43:48 without having to run at all. An extra 2.5kg shouldn't make much of a difference.
