The magic smoke got out...
So I'd noticed that we had mould growing on the walls of the bedroom again, so I thought, fuck it, and went and spent $300 on a dehumidifier. Sure, it may add $20 to the power bill, but I'm sick of having mould appear on things. The dehumidifier works just fine, and is happily slurping all the moisture out of the bedroom. The vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, is as dead as a dead thing. I'd moved a bunch of furniture out of the way in order to scrub the walls with bleach, and found a whole pile of feathers from one of Greebo's former playmates. Dig out the vacuum cleaner. Previously the turbo brush had died. This time it sounded as though the motor choked on a hairball, and then smoke and sparks issued forth. It's a good thing I didn't bother to buy the replacement turbo brush that I'd looked at earlier in the day... Just spent $300 on one new appliance, a replacement vacuum cleaner is going to have to wait a while.
