and one memorable night in Pennsylvania where she had captured a frantic bat in the hotel lobby. (“Do you want to wait for it to take human form before I release it?” she’d asked drily.)
I want this ep. Right now.
His couch is the atramentous green of algae, appearing black in the close room. “
IS IT REALLY?!
Yeah, I guess they mostly shipped the cadavers to you before, huh? When you were doing doctor things?” He sees a slight narrowing of her eyes at this, the implication that she’s not a doctor now. The fact that she took it as an insult means it’s a vulnerability.
“Mostly.”
I can *just* picture THAT LOOK. You're skating on this ice, boy.
Mulder’s had enough of her analysis. “I’m not like you, I don’t crave approval.”
OUCH!

Aw, I'm glad these two finally found some grounds for agreement and trust. They are truly one of the oddest partnerships in history!
I love the early season/partnership stuff. Can you imagine if they completely hadn't gotten along? Where would we be? *g*
Their partnership, yeah. I thought they had something amazing and romantic when I was 14 and watching this show but as a grown up married lady I'm just sad for them a lot.
I always sort of liked Diana. She had her shit together, I could respect that. I wrote a piece from her POV called Samson and it is one of my favorite things I ever wrote.
Chris Carter, he's not that great at writing relationships.
I'll have to check that out! Diana always fascinated me. I never quite understood the level of venom she got in the fandom. But then, I don't understand much about fandom.
Hey, thanks! Early season them is pretty interesting. Scully's such a goofball and Mulder's all, "Yo, lookit these Ray Bans, imma tell you about my tragic backstory but also kind of reject you."
This is really, really excellent. As Mack said, I feel like there's so little early-seasons fic that even comes close to getting their characterization right, but you definitely do.
How much do I love this? A LOT. Early season so good!
Mulder, what a little JERK he was. And Scully trying to prove herself, my stomach hurts now. I want to push them together like Barbie dolls. KISS KISS KISS!
They were such a mess, those little babies. I feel like 1013 did such a crap job with their backstories. It's a fun challenge to build something that works and puts them where they should be.
