Echo Project (the blog that isn't working on The Red & Black site. yup...

Personally, I thought Echo had a neat set-up and the size and location were a lot more conveniet than, say, a large festival like Bonnaroo. There was a lot less traffic coming into the gate, more free stuff (wooo poor college students!!), less litter (seeing that this is an eco-friendly festival) and A LOT less people. On the downside, there was a ridiculous amount of dust and the weather was either very hot or freezing.
For those of you who missed the 2007 Echo festivities this past weekend, do not fret. Apparently, The Project has a 10-year-lease on the Bouckaert Farm property.

Practical art. It's cool-looking and provides shade to hide from the rays.

I don't know if this was an independent project or a traveling circus act... but it was pretty cool nonetheless.

The Flaming Lips Amazing entrance, as always. However... Wayne talked too much...

I HOPE THE CONFETTI WAS PRINTED ON SOY INK, WAYNE!

Louis XIV Fun band, fun performance.

Tea Leaf Green SO MUCH FUN!! Even though they didn't play the song I wanted them to.

Michael Franti & Spearhead There was so much dust that I could barely breathe. But Franti is the man.

Spoon I'm not exaggerating when I say that this show was a tar-and-feather-me kind of disappointment. The band sounded exactly like they do on the CD and their stage presence was lacking completely. I didn't see them at Bonnaroo this year, but everyone I talked to said the energy wasn't there either. Conclusion: Stop going to festivals, Spoon.

Here is something to commemorate Spoon's awful performance.

This lady did more than just the average carnival face painting.

View from the big hill we camped out on.

Festivals are the place to wear last year's Halloween costume.

Anybody catch the allusion?

Umphrey's McGee The enormous amount of energy in the jams made the show really fun to watch and dance to.

The Roots I didn't see much of their performance, but they were INCREDIBLE when they came out during Thievery Corporation Saturday night. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera.

Beautiful sunset to a beautiful day.

Phil Lesh & Friends By far, The BEST PERFORMACE OF THE WEEKEND. Phil may be getting older, but he's still amazing at what he does. Great jams, amazing energy, perfect end to a fun festival.
